Redirecting by User Language
Streamline the user experience on your website by automatically redirecting visitors to their browser language. So when a user visits your website, Weglot detects their browser language and automatically redirects them to the relevant translated page.
Activate the Auto-Redirect Feature:
- Go to your Weglot Dashboard > Project Settings.
- Locate the option to activate the "Auto-redirect" feature.
- Once activated, visitors will be automatically redirected to their preferred language based on their browser's language settings. If their language is not supported, they'll be redirected to the original language (fallback).
Note on Language Cookies:
- The browser stores a language cookie, ensuring the website displays in the language of the visitor's last visit.
- Visitors who previously explored your website in languages other than their browser setting will be redirected to the version associated with their last visit (unless cookies are cleared).
Troubleshooting:
- If the auto-redirect doesn't seem to work, clear cookies and cache.
- Check in an incognito window to ensure accurate testing.
In the next lesson, we’ll learn how to translate media assets.
