Black Friday 2021: We’ll be donating 50% of Black Friday and Cyber Monday revenue to charity

Whilst the Internet will be awash with Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals that promise “the best price of the year” and in many cases cause you to purchase something that wasn’t in reality “needed”, we’ve taken a step back again this year. 

You may remember that in 2020 we felt the same. Given the really tough time everyone was going through, we didn’t feel it was right to be pushing a discount. Instead, we donated 50% of all sales made on Black Friday and Cyber Monday to Fondation de France, Translators without Borders, and a number of smaller charities chosen by the Weglot team. 

With €20,532 donated in total, it gave us a different vision of what these two commercial holiday days could achieve. 

That’s why for 2021 we’re bringing back the same initiative and hoping to raise even more for our two chosen charities – Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and again Fondation de France. 

Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent, global movement providing medical aid where it’s needed most. They provide lifesaving medical humanitarian care and speak out about worldwide issues.

Fondation de France is a French charity active in all areas that contribute to the greater good and support a vast array of initiatives within France and overseas territories. They work together with the most in need to build effective and meaningful solutions that advance society. We’ve chosen to support a specific cause focusing on the study of resistance to cancer treatments. 

The decision to again not take part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday in a profitable sense was something that the whole team at Weglot fully supported and together we felt that it was the right decision to make.  

So, on 26 and 29 November, if you purchase a Weglot plan or make an upgrade, 50% of all sales made will be donated to the causes mentioned above and you’ll be participating in supporting a number of worthwhile causes this year.
